Golden Memorial United Methodis Church

Ministries

Early Education
Pastor King completed middle and high school in Louisville, Kentucky. In August, 2007 he enrolled in Clark Atlanta University. During the spring of his freshman year, he responded to a call from God to dedicate his life to full-time ministry by changing his major from communications to religion. Full and exciting days followed. He served as a Chaplain’s Assistant, studied at American University in Cairo, Egypt, graduated from Clark Atlanta University with a Bachelor of Arts in Religion and was the Valedictorian of the Class of 2011.

Seminary and Ministerial Candidacy
Pastor King then traveled to Washington, DC and enrolled in Wesley Theological Seminary. He graduated with honors and the Masters of Divinity in 2014.

Next, Pastor King began the ministerial candidacy program of the North Georgia Annual Conference. Appointed as the Part-Time Local Pastor of Ariel Bowen, he led the church to experience increased membership growth, a rebirth of congregational life and discipleship formation focused on Christlike love. On June 16, 2015, he was commissioned Provisional Elder and appointed to Cascade UMC where he led the Young People’s Division. Through confirmation classes and intentional experiences of spiritual transformation, students were led to develop spiritual disciplines and become life-long committed followers of Jesus.

On June 13, 2018 he was ordained Elder in Full Connection and appointed Pastor-in-Charge of St. Paul UMC Summit Street in Gainesville. St. Paul experienced a spiritual transformation rooted in discipleship, explosive membership growth and expansion of their ministries.

Appointment to Golden UMC
Pastor King gives thanks to God for the opportunity to serve Golden United Methodist Church. “I am humbled by the opportunity to follow in the awesome footsteps of Dr. Gregory Williams, Bishop Charles F. Golden and a great cloud of witnesses committed to the vision and mission of God through Golden.

Golden is widely honored for its strong praise and worship, innovative vision, passionate mission and service projects. May God bless us during the days ahead, to work together and help the kingdom of God come on earth as it is in heaven.”

In today’s climate of unexpected challenges, Pastor King is clear: “Together, with God’s help, we will grow stronger in our faith. As the body of Christ we will lean into the heartbreaking challenges we face in our communities, nation and world with great conviction. For we know, we can do all things through Christ, who strengthens us! Victory is ours in Christ!”

Pastor King enjoys walking and celebrating God’s bountiful, peaceful and unique creation. He also enjoys listening to jazz, salsa dancing, spending time with family and friends, watching movies and using his gifts of Spanish and Arabic to connect people of different cultures to the love of Jesus.
